Rules and other contest terms:
No purchase necessary to register. One valid account per registration per IP address is allowed. Link to submit photos.
One child per photo unless children are identical twins.
If you are not able to, or do not have access to the online entry, you may send Initial entries with a photograph to the New Jersey Herald at address above, along with your $10 entry fee and a representative of the newspaper will be happy to scan and upload your information for you. Please send to New Jersey Herald/Baby Photo Contest, PO Box 10, Newton, NJ 07860. Please be sure to include a phone number to call. Or, just stop by our office at 2 Spring Street, Newton, NJ.
Deadline for entries is Thursday, June 12 @ Noon. All entries will be featured in the New Jersey Herald on June 15. Voting for round 1 will run from June 15 to noon, July 4; The top 23 finalists will be featured in the New Jersey Herald on Sunday, July 6. Voting for round 2 run from July 6 to July 18. The winner will be announced in the New Jersey Herald on Sunday, July 20.
You will be able to cast one free vote per in-paper ballot and online for each round of voting.
You may also increase your chances of winning by adding votes both online and on your paper ballot for 25¢ each.
Minimum purchase for online voting is for 20 votes at a cost of $5. Original In-paper ballots will be accepted via USPS mail or dropped off at the New Jersey Herald's office: PO Box 10 / 2 Spring Street, Newton, NJ 07860. Photocopies are not accepted and will not be counted. All votes must be at the newspaper office by end of voting round to be accepted for that round.
You must be 13 years of age or older at time of registration to be eligible for this contest. This contest is void where prohibited by law.
Winners will be notified by email and/or telephone. If a winner is unreachable after seven (7) days, or if that winner is unavailable for prize fulfillment, an alternate winner will be selected (the second highest number of votes). If The New Jersey Herald cannot find an eligible winner for the prize, that prize will not be awarded. The Grand prize is a $1000 Savings Bond (parent will need to be present to open savings bond account. The Grand prize winner will also receive a $500 value photo shoot for the cover and January of the 2015 "Cutest Baby Calendar". Plus... will be given a free calendar,
Children entered must be under 4 years old at time of photo and have consent of parent or guardian to enter child in contest. Children may not be older than 6 now. Winners and 11 runners up will be professionally photographed for the 2014 calendar by a New Jersey Herald Photographer (a $500 value) and be featured in the 2015 "Sussex County's Cutest Babies Calendar". The winner will be featured on the cover as well as January. Each of the top 23 finalists will win a free calendar.
Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received in the first, then second round of voting.
Automated voting of any kind is not allowed. Detection of said automated voting will lead to votes being voided.
The New Jersey Herald reserves the right to substitute any prize with another prize of equal or greater value.
The New Jersey Herald reserves the right to restrict the local winners to only persons whose primary residence is within a 60 mile radius of the affiliate's' office.
Employees of The New Jersey Herald, its respective parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising sponsors and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of each are not eligible.
Contest entrants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of the contest commissioners, which are final on all matters pertaining to the contest.
Entrants further grant to The New Jersey Herald the right to use and publish their proper name and state online and in print, or any other media, in connection with the Contest.
The New Jersey Herald reserves the right to use any and all information related to the Contest, including information on contestants obtained through the contest, for marketing purposes or any other purpose, unless prohibited by law.
The Contest and all of the related pages, contents and code are copyright, UPICKEM, Inc., and/or The New Jersey Herald. Copying or unauthorized use of any copyrighted materials, trademarks or any other intellectual property without the express written consent of its owner is strictly prohibited.
Each winner, by acceptance of the prize, agrees to release all Sponsors, and their parent and subsidiary companies, their officers, directors, employees, agents, shareholders, affiliates, suppliers, distributors, and advertising agencies from all liability, claims, or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages, or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership, or use of the prize.
UPICKEM and The New Jersey Herald are not responsible for Internet crashes or slowdowns caused by network congestion, viruses, sabotage, satellite failures, phone line failures, electrical outages, natural disasters or acts of man or God.
All results posted are unofficial until winners respond to e-mail notification.
Each winner is responsible for all federal, state and local taxes and will be required to complete an IRS form W-9. Sponsor reserves the right to withhold prizes until completed form W-9 is received.
This contest is not intended for gambling. If it is determined that a contestant is using the contest for gambling purposes they will be disqualified and reported to authorities.
The New Jersey Herald reserves the right to change the rules at any time.

PRIZES:
The winner of the contest will receive $1000 savings bond, a feature in the New Jersey Herald and will be featured on the cover and January the 2015 Sussex County's Cutest Baby Calendar, will receive a professional photo shoot ($500 value) for the cover image of the 2015 calendar and January… plus receive a complimentary calendar.
Places 2 & 3 will be placed on the back page of the calendar and featured as main photo inside (February and March). They will also receive a professional photo shoot ($500 value) and a complimentary calendar.
Runners Up Places 4 - 12 will receive a professional photo shoot ($500 value) and be featured as the main photo on the remaining 9 months and receive a complimentary calendar.
Runners Up Places 13 - 23 will have their entry photos placed in secondary position of 11 calendar months and receive a complimentary calendar.
Calendars (and additional calendars) will be available November 1, 2014, but must be ordered no later than October 1, 2014. Calendars are $19.95 each, plus 7%tax. Order forms will be sent to all entries and be posted in the New Jersey Herald. Calendars may also be ordered by calling the New Jersey Herald Promotions Manager at 973-383-1293.
