You must be 13 years of age or older at time of entry to be eligible for this contest. This contest is void where prohibited by law.

All photos must be submitted to The New Jersey Herald, with a $10 per photo entry fee, by March 12, 2014. Al photos submitted will be included in our #1 Pet Calendar for 2015. Photos should contain only your pet, with no people featured in the picture. Only one pet per photo. You may submit as many photos as you like. Photos will be published in The New Jersey Herald on Sunday, March 16, 2014. Then it's your chance to vote for the #1 Pet in two exciting rounds of voting!

After photos are published: Clip the voting card out of The New Jersey Herald and vote for your favorite pet photo. Only original newsprint voting cards will be accepted. Votes can be placed with a suggested donation of 25 cents per vote. Donations over 25 cents will be counted as multiple votes for your favorite photo. For example, if you send $1.00, you vote will be counted 4 times.Voting cards with no donation will count as one vote only. You may only vote for one pet per voting card, You may submit as many voting cards as you like. Round one votes must be received at The New Jersey Herald by 5 p.m. on April 9, 2014. On Sunday, April 13, 2014, the Top 20 photos will be revealed in The New Jersey Sunday Herald. Then a final round of voting begins. Round Two votes must be received at The New Jersey Herald by 5 p.m., May 2, 2014. The winner will be announced in the Sunday, May 11, New Jersey Herald, with a feature story and photo of the grand-prize winner. The runner-up and remainder of the top 20 will be featured in the #1 Pet Calendar 2015! The New Jersey Herald reserves the right to substitute any prize with another prize of equal or greater value.

The New Jersey Herald reserves the right to restrict the local winners to only persons whose primary residence is within a 60 mile radius of the affiliate's' office.

Employees of The New Jersey Herald, its respective parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising sponsors and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of each are not eligible.

Contest entrants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of the contest commissioners, which are final on all matters pertaining to the contest.

Entrants further grant to The New Jersey Herald the right to use and publish their proper name and state online and in print, or any other media, in connection with the Contest.

The New Jersey Herald reserves the right to use any and all information related to the Contest, including information on contestants obtained through the contest, for marketing purposes or any other purpose, unless prohibited by law.

The Contest and all of the related pages, contents and code are copyright, UPICKEM, Inc., and/or The New Jersey Herald. Copying or unauthorized use of any copyrighted materials, trademarks or any other intellectual property without the express written consent of its owner is strictly prohibited.

Each winner, by acceptance of the prize, agrees to release all Sponsors, and their parent and subsidiary companies, their officers, directors, employees, agents, shareholders, affiliates, suppliers, distributors, and advertising agencies from all liability, claims, or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages, or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership, or use of the prize.

UPICKEM and The New Jersey Herald are not responsible for Internet crashes or slowdowns caused by network congestion, viruses, sabotage, satellite failures, phone line failures, electrical outages, natural disasters or acts of man or God.

All results posted are unofficial until winners respond to e-mail notification.

Each winner is responsible for all federal, state and local taxes and will be required to complete an IRS form W-9. Sponsor reserves the right to withhold prizes until completed form W-9 is received.

This contest is not intended for gambling. If it is determined that a contestant is using the contest for gambling purposes they will be disqualified and reported to authorities.

The New Jersey Herald reserves the right to change the rules at any time.
